New media involve 2 kinds of technologies, such as: the computer and cellphones or smartphones. New media is part of this new era in information technology where we need some sort of input in order to share information.

The internet is vital to new media because it is where new media was invented and where it is currently expanding. The internet serves as a host of new media because websites that support new media like Blogger are based on the internet. In order for everyone to use new media they must access to the internet
Why and how are the new media replacing and / or enhancing the old media?
New media is not necessarily replacing old media, for now. New media is winning over old media like newspapers and magazines. Televisions are being used by new media users in order to share information. Henry Jenkins, the author of Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide explains in his book that viewers are turning in to the use of new media in order to collectively share information about their favorite shows. It’s a way to stay connected to be informed.
